It’s time we had some examples of Catholic masculinity in the parishes!

We live in a time of gender confusion, where the lines between masculine and feminine are intentionally blurred.

This disease, which has infected the world, unfortunately infected the church decades ago.

The other day we went to the movies and almost every superhero was a female character.  They want us to believe that women are as physically strong as men.

Completely delusional.

So where are the examples of Catholic manliness for the boys we are raising?

Are they in the Church?

Where are the example of Catholic masculinity for our children to emulate? Parishes have been taken over by effeminates, and feminists.

When boys look in their parishes, they find high-strung women on parish boards intimidating the priests into granting their wishes.

They find men who lack decisiveness and are tentative about making the most minor decisions. They find men who relish gossip even more than women.

To whom shall our boys turn to learn how to be manly – the Catholic way?

Our boys and men need look no further than St Joseph who exemplifies all the manly attributes a man needs to possess.

How Joseph Teaches Our Boys & Men About Catholic Manliness

Joseph Was Just & Honorable

“Whereupon Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing publicly to expose her, was minded to put her away privately.” Matthew 1:19.

When Joseph found out that Mary was pregnant, Joseph didn’t whine and gossip with his buddies about it. He didn’t decide that all women were no good and swear he would never marry again. He didn’t start a support group with the village men to complain about how horrible the women of the village were. He did what he had to do and he didn’t let his anger or despondency cause him to lose his cool.

Joseph Was Skilled In the Manly Crafts

As a carpenter, Joseph was a hard worker and kept fit. Every man doesn’t have to have the skills of a carpenter, but but some men don’t even know how to put up blinds. He did all the manly tasks and left Mary to take care of the home.

I have a traditional Catholic friend of mine who laments that men these days are too pretty to do any sort of physical work that needs to be done around the parish. They are more interested in the lace of vestments then they are in picking up a nail and hammer. Is there any truth to that?

Joseph Was a Protector

“And after they were departed, behold an angel of the Lord appeared in sleep to Joseph, saying: Arise, and take the child and his mother, and fly into Egypt: and be there until I shall tell thee. For it will come to pass that Herod will seek the child to destroy him. And, having arisen, he took to [him] the little child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt.”

How many men are protectors these days? I understand we went through women’s lib and some women are obnoxious about insisting they don’t need men to protect them.

Well, we are not all like that.

The natural order of things is for the naturally, physically-stronger man to protect the physically- weaker woman. Even if a woman towers over a man and weighs more than a man, she is still likely to be weaker than said man. A man should be willing to put himself at risk to protect the women in his life or even the random, helpless damsel in distress.

As Catholics, we often experience attacks from the devil. Have you ever wanted to be even more well-versed in spiritual warfare than you currently are? The Manual for Spiritual Warfare shows you exactly how to do it.

A Beautiful Example of Manliness

During the San Bernardino terrorist attacks, a man named Shannon Johnson was killed while protecting his 27-year-old coworker with his body.

He allegedly told her, “I got you”.

She was not his wife. She was a woman who needed his protection.

He paid with his life.

Men, if you lack some of the unique masculine qualities that separate you from the females species, look no further then St Joseph.

Fathers, if you raise your boys to emulate the qualities of St Joseph, you can’t go wrong,  plus you will be partaking in building a stronger Church with the masculine men it was meant to have.

St Joseph, pray for us.
